Do Your Office Plants Need a Splash of Color?
If you’ve followed us in this space, you’ll know that we like to motivate business owners to choose green plant installations for their interior workspace design. Beneficial reasons to add greenery to a place of business range from more purified air to fewer employee sick days, not to mention shifting the ambiance from sterile and boring to lush and inspiring. But a purely green aesthetic may not appeal to you when deciding on the right plants to install. Adding even a small bit of color to your design can enhance your space while benefiting your team. If you aren’t sure what plants are right for your brand and vision, you can always ask our team for help.
Green Plants that Add a Pop of Color
There is no need to settle for a sea of green when you choose plants for your office. Let’s explore some beautiful greenery that is not afraid to show off a little.
- Bromeliads: These striking plants are among the most eye-catching tropical varieties, and there are several to choose from. This dramatic air plant does not need soil to thrive, meaning you can add them to your decor in many ways, such as in decorative pots, hanging containers, or even as part of a unique living wall. The vibrant bromeliad features multicolored leaves in red, purple, orange, green, and yellow, and can exhibit many patterns such as variegated spots and stripes. Bromeliads are slow-growing plants, meaning they are perfect for an office environment.

- Red Anthurium: The Red Anthurium, originally native to Central and South America, is a well-loved variety known by several names, including flamingo flower and painter’s palette. The Red Anthurium’s vibrant red spathes and glossy green leaves add excitement and color to any office space or special event floor. We find these plants to be especially welcoming in corporate lobbies and in large venues such as shopping malls or airports. Don’t forget to ask about placing plants at the exterior of your building as well, creating curb appeal and attracting customers.

- Dracaena Colorama (Dragon Tree): If you are looking for a plant variety that is beautiful and exotic, look no further than the aptly named Dragon Tree. There are many varieties of this plant, but few are as sought after as Dracaena Colorama. This evergreen perennial is related to all varieties of Madagascar broadleaf dragon trees, but its distinctive color patterns guarantee it garners more attention than its all-green relatives. Colorama grows vertically at a very slow pace, showcasing a sturdy central stalk with narrow elongated leaves that splay outwards. Although in the wild the tree can be rather tall, most plant leasing experts recommend you maintain a height of under 6 feet when used for interior design.

- Aechmea: The Aechmea plant is a type of bromeliad – but one which we love to shine a spotlight on. This plant is an evergreen variety that showcases rosettes of distinct variegated, spiny leaves. A vibrant and hardy pink flower blooms in the center of the plant. In nature, aechmea can be found growing on trees, rocks, or piggybacking on other plants – but when cultivated indoors, they can successfully be grown in containers.
